Unique opportunity to live detached with a nice view and lots of privacy within walking distance of a park (binnenpark) and the Stadshart shopping center. The house has a unique design with 2 cubes placed on their sides and 2 canservatories and is relatively easy to adapt to your own wishes due to the timber frame construction. We have a nice plan from an architect on how the house can be adapted. Handymen or people with a remodeling budget: don't let this option go.
AREA
This house is located in the Hoven. A nice neighborhood in the Buytenwegh district. The house is located at a large playing field and you can easily and safely walk (over a bridge) to the Binnenpark. Here children and you can enjoy nature. This is also possible on the edges of the Meerpolder. You can walk or cycle all the way to the Zoetermeerse Plas (lake). You can cycle to the Stadshart shopping center in about 3 minutes, where you can enjoy some wonderful shopping. There are several supermarkets within walking distance in the local shopping center. You can walk to the Randstadrail stop in about 4 minutes. The randstadrail gives you a direct tram connection to The Hague. There are also various bus connections in the neighbourhood. The highways to The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Leiden are a few minutes' drive from the house. In the immediate vicinity there are several primary schools and secondary schools within cycling distance. A wonderful living environment where recreation, nature and urban facilities come together.
THE HOUSE
Ground floor garden
Entrance through front garden with shed. Entrancehall with toilet, meter cupboard and access to the bathroom with shower, bath and sink. Spacious and bright living room with partial conservatory roof and entrance to the southwest-facing garden. The garden was landscaped using many types of trees and plants by the first owner who was a landscape architect. 2 conservatories have been built on the house: 1 for relaxing and 1 for growing plants. From the living room you enter the front into a hall with boiler room (nefit topline 2010) and stairs. The bedroom at the front has direct access to the bathroom and to the garden room at the side of the house. From the living room there is a door to the workspace/bedroom or laundry room at the rear. This space can also be added to the living room. The stairwell at the rear offers space for a desk and cupboards.
First floor
The first floor is divided into 2 parts. At the rear there is a smaller room with a roof terrace. A larger room at the front. Both rooms have a lot of light through the windows on the gable ends. And both rooms have small shutters that allow communication with the living room. There is an architect's design that allows the space between the two cubes to be connected.
A RESIDENT'S EXPERIENCE
When I look back on my childhood in this special house, the first word that comes to mind is: freedom. Verweijhove 46 literally and figuratively offered the space to be yourself and do what you wanted. With its high ceilings, open layout and endless possibilities, the house always felt bigger than four walls. This was the place where neighborhood children liked to gather – whether we were playing hide and seek, building huts or just chatting together. Our home was a favorite, a sanctuary where everyone was welcome.
The field across the street was our playground. After an afternoon full of football or Frisbee, the house was the perfect base for lemonade and cookies. That hospitality continued even when I became a teenager. The house was the ultimate setting for parties: enough space to dance and jump, and without disturbing the neighbors. My father's fantastic sound system also helped with that ;-)
But there was something else special about our house. When I explained to others where I lived, I always heard, "Oh, that house with the tilted cubes!" The unique design always made me feel special. And that freedom that I experienced as a child remained present. As my parents grew older, the house turned out to be perfect for a wonderful old age. The ground floor offered all amenities, and the garden was a peaceful place to enjoy nature.
This house has created so many moments of happiness and freedom, for us and for many. Verweijhove 46 is now waiting for a new generation who can appreciate the house as much as we always have. It's a place where memories are made, and where children can grow up with the same sense of freedom and adventure.
