The name was changed from Nassaukade (quay) to Nassauplein (square) and these days, the area features memorial monuments, a four seasons garden and antique benches.

History:
The history of this mansion is worth sharing. Let’s start from the beginning. In 1879-1880 this mansion was built on commission by land owner Willem-Pieter van Dam. As mentioned, it became a post office in 1934. And in 1953, The Hague's city hall was built to the left of the building - which required the demolition of five other, adjoining homes! This meant that the post office needed a new side facade. This wall featured 6 windows and small, copper lockers for packages. In 1996, the city hall was torn down to accommodate new buildings on Burgemeester Monchyplein, which was named after the former mayor of The Hague. Ricardo Bofill, an architect from Spain, shaped his design to match the existing architecture. This project was completed in 2003.
And today, in 2021, the former post office will be redeveloped into a residential building. The building spans three levels and has a flat roof. All its historic details, such as the staircase, ornaments on the ceilings, stained glass and the original front door, are still intact. This building will encompass three high-end, spacious apartments with a modern but authentic touch! The apartments will be built and completed to modern standards and also feature an elevator.
A detail worth mentioning is that the copper lockers in the alley next to the building will be preserved, as a lasting testament to the post office, which closed its doors in 2014.
