Work in progress!

The first floor of this beautiful monumental building at Nassauplein features a fantastic renovated 146 sqm, 3-room apartment with a phenomenal terrace.

Location:
Nassauplein is an ideal, central location in The Hague. In immediate proximity to the city centre, yet also offering easy access to the highway. Scheveningen beach is only 10 minutes by bicycle/car. Do you prefer public transportation? Tram and bus stops are just around the corner.
Nassauplein is within walking distance of the charming Bankastraat boutique shopping area. Offering a wide selection of shops, a few restaurants and a supermarket. Archipel Quarter is a protected cityscape: home to extraordinary buildings showcasing beautiful architecture, countless embassies and lovely squares. The perfect starting point from where to explore the city on foot. Or by bike, like the locals.
Nassauplein is a large historic square in sought-after Archipel Quarter, also known as the Indonesian area. Until 1883 this lovely square was a canal! The name was changed from Nassaukade (quay) to Nassauplein (square) and these days, the area features memorial monuments, a four seasons garden and antique benches.
Nassauplein is also known for its 19th century buildings. One of these buildings is an enormous townhouse that was used as a post office. But starting this year, the post office will see a spectacular transformation into 3 beautiful, high-end, luxury apartments. And one of them could be yours!

History:
The history of this mansion is worth sharing. Let’s start from the beginning. In 1879-1880 this mansion was built on commission by land owner Willem-Pieter van Dam. As mentioned, it became a post office in 1934. And in 1953, The Hague's city hall was built to the left of the building - which required the demolition of five other, adjoining homes! This meant that the post office needed a new side facade. This wall featured 6 windows and small, copper lockers for packages. In 1996, the city hall was torn down to accommodate new buildings on Burgemeester Monchyplein, which was named after the former mayor of The Hague. Ricardo Bofill, an architect from Spain, shaped his design to match the existing architecture. This project was completed in 2003.
And today, in 2021, the former post office will be redeveloped into a residential building. The building spans three levels and has a flat roof. All its historic details, such as the staircase, ornaments on the ceilings, stained glass and the original front door, are still intact. This building will encompass three high-end, spacious apartments with a modern but authentic touch! The apartments will be built and completed to modern standards and also feature an elevator.
A detail worth mentioning is that the copper lockers in the alley next to the building will be preserved, as a lasting testament to the post office, which closed its doors in 2014.

Layout
The building has a central hall with a brand new elevator, monumental staircase, meter cupboard and storage for the 1st and 2nd floors.
You can reach the first floor by elevator or stairs. Upon entering the apartment, the large and bright living/dining room with a view of the street command immediate attention. Pocket doors can divide the room into two spaces. Open kitchen area. The kitchen is not included, so the buyer is free to choose his/her ideal kitchen. The apartment features two bedrooms. The apartment features a sunny terrace facing southwest. The luxury bathroom is equipped with a double vanity, toilet, bathtub and walk-in shower, and there is also a separate restroom.
This apartment also includes a utility room with storage space and the laundry station.

Given floor areas are not in accordance with the NVM measurement code (NEN2580) due to the fact that an actual survey is not technically possible at this time.
